How volunteering works
There are four areas where you can volunteer:
- Kitchen
- Stewarding & waste sorting
- Setup & breakdown
- Welcome & check-in
Kitchen
Cooking at the festival is fun! No special skills or extensive experience are required.
You will need an HACCP certificate: if you don’t have one, we can help you get it.
You’ll always have a supervisor to guide you and let you know what needs to be done.
Most of the time is spent on basic tasks such as:
- washing and cutting vegetables
- assembling sandwiches and other dishes
- heating and preparing food
- washing dishes, pots, and utensils
- cleaning work surfaces
Stewarding & Waste Sorting
One of the most important roles!
Even with our commitment to reducing waste, a festival still produces quite a lot of it.
In this role, you’ll support the kitchen, bar, and food areas, ensuring proper waste management and clean shared spaces.
You’ll also check in with the vendors to see what they need in terms of disposal: we want to support them as much as possible.
Proper waste sorting is essential for us.
Setup & Breakdown
Starting on Friday, we’ll be at Brixia Forum setting everything up: the kitchen, vendor area, bar, and stages.
We need a hand to help bring the festival to life.
On Sunday evening, everything needs to be taken down and put back in order.
This phase is crucial: after two days of celebration, fun, and great food, it’s time to pack everything up and leave the space clean.
Welcome & Check-in
The festival is free to enter, but we use a reservation system to help manage crowd flow and logistics.
You’ll welcome guests as they arrive, scan their entry tickets, and provide any information they need.
We also offer dedicated support for attendees coming for talks and other scheduled events.

Let us know if you already have kitchen experience or similar skills; if you can take incredible photos or shoot amazing videos; if you can fold impossibly complex origami or read the minds of cats.
Schedule
For volunteers, both Saturday and Sunday run from 8:00 to midnight.
On Friday, we’ll need support from 10:30 to 20:30.
Of course, you don’t need to stay the entire day: just let us know your preferred shifts or when you’re actually available.
Some roles benefit from a bit of flexibility: for example, in the kitchen it’s hard to set strict shifts, but we’re grateful for any help you can offer.
